Privatizing the State

A while ago I was arguing about privatizing the State, so that it would relieve it’s monopolies and become like a company. It’s constitution would thereby be similar to the incorporation papers or a legal document, that anyone could dissociate with on individual or corporate level. The basic fundamental difference between the State now and the state after reorganization (notice the capital letter S in the former and the lack thereof in the latter) would be its lack of legitimacy creating any laws which infringe on natural rights of any individual therein. The condition being, that responsibility of reclaiming individual rights would rest solely on an individual. Furthermore I would posit, that an individual ought to be able to individually secede so as to establish his own sovereignty over himself, without necessity of land ownership. Any interaction, legal or commercial, with such “state” could be done either through another legal agency, one could be member of, which would serve as a mediator between an individual sovereign and a “state” (and also any other willing party, with whom one contracts).

For that to become possible, there are few troublesome, politically speaking of course, impediments. In order for that to be feasible, such agency would have to exist on non-state level, which poses the problem of how is that law enforcement agency’s legitimacy established without incorporating anywhere; and further that it is unlikely that the agents of the State’s will would relieve their positions, powers, and especially monopolies. especially on legal arena. The State must relive their monopoly on anything, then, only then things can start functioning and slowly transitioning into something better.

One might ask, what then is the function of such state, that has no monopoly on anything? I would posit, that such collective organization has a useful feature: diplomatic representation. And if people refuse to be or stay its members (now citizens), it will die off, as it rightly should. And something better will (hopefully) take its place.
