I am a maker, a polymath.
That is the simplest way to say it. I make things-images, layouts, objects, arguments, systems, and sometimes furniture. My primary work lives in photography, graphic design, and page layout, but over the years it has expanded into woodwork and technical problem-solving. Some work happens behind a camera or a screen, some at a workbench. All of it belongs to the same impulse: to bring order, clarity, and beauty into form.
Most of my professional work is gathered under MJD.si. Through it I explore the intersection of design, culture, and long-term thinking. I am less interested in trends and more in durability and in good design. Good things, in my experience, are built slowly.
I am also a husband. Marriage has refined my understanding of responsibility, patience, and love in ways no theory could. It has made my work quieter and more deliberate. Craft, like marriage, is covenantal: it requires faithfulness over time.
My faith shapes everything else. I am a Christian, formed within Protestant theology, though not confined to a label. I believe Christ is King, Lord, High Priest, and Savior-not as metaphor, but as reality here and now. To follow Him is not merely to hold beliefs, but to live responsibly, to serve, to pursue truth, and to give glory to the One who made us.
Because of that, I care deeply about reason, Natural Law, and liberty. I believe human beings are moral agents, created with dignity and responsibility. Freedom is not chaos-it is the necessary condition for virtue. Personal responsibility is not a slogan-it is the structure of meaningful life. These convictions inevitably influence both my writing and my design.
Education has shaped me, though not without tension. I completed High School for Visual Arts and Photography in Ljubljana (SŠOF), earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Visual Arts, and pursued theological studies at informal or unaccredited levels of education. Formal education gave me tools; independent study gave me depth. I continue learning-sometimes through books, often through practice. Lately, I trust the discipline of making more than the accumulation of theory.
When I am not designing or building, I consult-both visually and technically-for the Bible Society of Slovenia. I read. I write. I walk. I cycle when the weather permits. I prefer long conversations to short performances. I value small circles over loud platforms.
This blog is not a marketing channel. It is a workshop and thinking notebook. A place for long-form thought, unfinished ideas, and reflections on faith, craft, liberty, and responsibility. I write when I can-sometimes less and sometimes more-less to broadcast and more to clarify my own thinking.
I am not a specialist in one narrow field. I am a polymath who believes that integrated knowledge produces better work. The world does not need more noise. It needs careful builders.
