I can’t remember who was it, that said it, but when your kids take their trash out on their rooms on their own, without parents’ involvement, they can be called grown enough.
But in the matters of State and Governance even trash isn’t done correctly. Nothing ever is done right. And yet there are limits on everything imaginable, one of them being age for being an adult. 18 or 21, depending where you are and what for. As if 18 or 21 is an objectively measurable marker of maturity. It isn’t. I don’t think that one should make a rule of age for maturity, being adult or whatever. It’s about the state of mind and maturity which is never about age. Today most people are immature and irresponsible. They shouldn’t be let to play with the “toys” of power (the matters of State). Nobody should.
And none should consent to let the power to steal (tax), kidnap (imprison), murder (results of wars and police raids), decree (legislate), etc. be embodied within a body called the State or Government which is filled with the most spoiled criminal irresponsible immature people one could ever think of. These politicians, as we call them, most often have someone else to do things for them. Perhaps even to take out the trash. They never claim any responsibility for anything that they decree; they always claim to be blameless as if they were angels in the sky. They’re not and we shouldn’t let them, or anyone for that matter have any power to do these abhorrent despicable crimes they commit through the State.
