Chocolate žlikrofi and Idrija mining tunnels

Last Thursday Gostišče Idrija, in collaboration with some other local agencies and companies, organized an event titled “Culinary Innovations – from žlikrof to dessert” (sl. Inovacije v kulinariki – od žlikrofa do sladice). Within the scope of this event I designed the banner, advertising material and photographed the event. Here is the banner design and … Read more

Long Exposures without an ND Filter

I don’t make long exposure photos in the daylight often. The reason is, that I don’t feel like hauling filters around. I made a filter holder a while ago, which holds a welding glass, but I have since found out that it has a few quirks. The glass unfortunately has a few imperfections, which do show in most circumstances.

Want some ‘berries?

Photography by Matic Jelovčan, www.mjd.si

I could write about selling berries for cash and how that, while completely legitimate, could give the State some headaches because they just can’t really control how you use your resources and whether you eat them or sell them. I just got home. I realize that the post will have been completed later, but I can still say: “Today was a really really long day. It was a completely full day in its best sense. It was an awesome day, but it was also a very tiring day. I have enjoyed every minute of … Read more

Preparations for the summer

A Trip to Belgrade

Last week I was unavailable and unreachable because I spent it in Belgrade. Before you start thinking “are they so primitive that they don’t have internet or phone service,” let me tell you that whenever I travel, for almost whatever reason, I try to not be as connected, so that I get the most out of the experience. And yes, they do have internet (though sometimes buggy) and cellphone service. The reason for the trip was Paratext and Publishing Assistant training for the Bible Society, because as you might know, I have been a designer and a typesetter (with some various other roles as a subcontractor as well) for the Bible society of Slovenia for about a year now. Now with some additional software training I will be able to do that way more efficiently. Praise God.

Here are some snaps from the week.
