A Trip to Belgrade

Last week I was unavailable and unreachable because I spent it in Belgrade. Before you start thinking “are they so primitive that they don’t have internet or phone service,” let me tell you that whenever I travel, for almost whatever reason, I try to not be as connected, so that I get the most out of the experience. And yes, they do have internet (though sometimes buggy) and cellphone service. The reason for the trip was Paratext and Publishing Assistant training for the Bible Society, because as you might know, I have been a designer and a typesetter (with some various other roles as a subcontractor as well) for the Bible society of Slovenia for about a year now. Now with some additional software training I will be able to do that way more efficiently. Praise God.

Here are some snaps from the week.

An Eye study

Lately I’ve had lots of things to do for projects that don’t show much tangible results, so I wanted to do some things, that are tangible and I can see. So for couple days, not necessarily in succession, I sat down behind my computer and just drew. In fact I drew so much, that my poor beaten up stylus broke. Anyhow… here is some of my latest work.

Snowy Midnight

Today, or rather yesterday, I was out with friends in the Movies. I didn’t think that it would have snowed that same evening, but it did. So as I was coming home, I felt compelled to pick up the camera and yet again make some photos. It felt strange standing in the middle of the road, that is during the day the busiest road out here.

To Bovec and back

Yesterday my good friend Anelisa and I went to see couple of friends in Bovec. We took off in the morning as the mist was still grounded in the meadows. As we were heading through Železniki, the fog started rising and as the sun shone through, it was as if I drove through the heavenlies. It was beautiful. When we came to Bovec, the fog finally cleared and the cloudless blue skies appeared.

Kelleys, whom we visited, are an inspiring family serving God in that region and I am so thankful that they get to be a blessing not only to the people of Bovec and the area, but also in my life. Yesterday, as we spent the better part of the day there, we ate together, played games (like Spot-it, Jungle-Speed, etc.) talked a bunch and just had some really nice time together. I am so thankful for them.

Unfortunately we had to leave as the hour was getting late. But before we left, Bovec had another surprise for us. The bright moon lit the entire valley and the skies, still clear, were full of stars. The scenery in Bovec always amazes me. I can’t wait for the next time I get to visit them.

Happy New Year 2015!

Before anything, I just want to wish you a pleasant, peaceful and free New Year, full of blessings and beauty.

Most of you probably went out, hang out with your friends or family, and I stayed at home. In the evening we had a dinner with my parents and my grandma, and after that my parents watched movies and I went upstairs to read a bit. Suddenly I noticed, that it’s almost midnight. I grabbed my camera, the tripod, and an ushanka (a russian hat) and ran outside to take some shots, because as I suspected, the neighbours, close and far, had fireworks ready.

These are the last shots of 2014 and the first ones of 2015.
